The Emmy's

Last night, I watched the Emmy's. (I absolutely love award shows). As I began my night watching the red carpet keeping my eye out for the best dressed celebrities, I have to admit, I was somewhat disappointed. Everything was just a bit blah, no one seemed to take risks, and there wasn't anything all that unique to the dresses this year. Everyone just seemed to play it safe. The Emmy's themselves were just okay, because pretty much everyone who won last year, won again this year! (The stand out moment for me was the bit about Lily being a bitch on the set of "Modern Family). A bit predictable in my opinion. I'll end my bashing there, however, as there were two well-dressed celebrities that did catch my eye.

1. Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier

She never fails to impress, in my opinion. Always one to take a risk, and she's always so elegant and high fashion. She's also loving tangerine this year (remember her stunning dress at the Met Gala?) Thank you, Ginnifer Goodwin, for proving that you don't have to be blah and boring on the red carpet.

2. Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra

Okay, so I normally don't LOVE what she wears because sometimes I think she takes the cutesy, awkward girl thing a little to far with her fashion (with that said, I LOVE her cutesy and awkward acting - "New Girl" Season 2 starts tomorrow!), but I had to say, I was impressed by her choice. I Love Reem Acra and I love the colour and think it suits her beautifully. Wish you would have taken home best actress!

No Bones About It

sweater WILDFOX, shirt ERNEST SEWN, skirt H+M, shoes DOLCE VITA

This summer, I've had a bit of an obsession with Dolce Vita. Before I bought the desert booties, I had a dream about them, and the next day I found myself strolling into TNT to buy them. I couldn't help myself. Shopping addiction? Maybe. I found these black booties in Bloomingdales on my most recent trip to New York, and once again, pure satisfaction. I'm so happy fall is coming so I have an excuse to wear these over and over. (FYI, the fall and holiday collection is amazing. I predict more dreams in the future about Dolce Vita).

Breaking Rules

I'm back!! Okay, so for the past two months or so, it may have seemed like my blog had died, but truthfully I've just been so incredibly busy with work that I just haven't found the time. But, here I am, back and ready to post! As I frolicked around Yorkville a few days ago (so disappointing I did not spot a single celebrity) I found myself breaking "fashion" rules with this outfit, (which makes me  wonder if there really are fashion rules anymore?) because I'm wearing some contrasting pieces. A peplum top with none other than...sweatpants. I fell in love with this look when I recently paired this exact peplum top with a pair of skinny Luv Zooey sweatpants with burgundy leather detail down the leg. It just...worked. It's like a whole new take on jeggings. Who says sweatpants need to only be worn when lounging around the house? It's a hot new look ladies. But remember: the skinnier the better. You will receive funny looks on the street if you decide to rock Free City's with heels.

White Out

Sister, my only sister...well, really, I have more than one sister but for some reason when we were younger we used to sing a song that we had made up with those words as lyrics. Not really sure what was going on with our imaginations as kids. Anyway, I decided to add my sis into some of my photos again because the colours worked really well together. I was super nervous buying a white pair of jeans but I easily caved once I tried on these Rag and Bone's...extremely comfortable and such a great fit. On another note, halfway through this shoot my camera died and we had to resort to using my iPhone for the rest of the day...and I honestly couldn't have been happier. The quality of the iPhone camera is so incredible, I can't even tell the difference between the first photo and the last.
